Ethereum price is moving in a tight range ahead of the planned Byzantium hard fork. Byzantium is the largest part of Ethereum’s Metropolis upgrade and is scheduled for the 17th of October or Block 4.37 Million.
The Byzantium hard fork was successfully tested 2 weeks ago on an Ethereum Testnet. The Ethereum Team has been working on fine-tuning the Network and Code to be ready for the upcoming fork. We have gathered in this article the most notable upgrades and updates announced by the Ethereum development team earlier this week.
According to the Ethereum Team, many improvements have been added to Ethereum’s core code, Whisper and Swarm. Ethereum’s scalability is also set to improve.
They also simplified the Byzantium fork rules and working on syncing the test network with the main Networks now that the Byzantium implementation is finished. Byzantium test cases are done and the Team announced that some clients passed them all.
The research team counts now a new full-time developer dedicated to working on Whisper and one part-time to work on Viper. The number of community contributors is increasing as well.
In fact, the Ethereum Team started 5 working Groups working on key Ethereum development areas:
- Network simulation
- PSS node to node messaging
- Media and data streaming
- Database services and the swap
- Swear and swindle framework to encourage bandwidth sharing and long-term storage of data.
The Team announced the launch of a new tool for python developers Ethereum Tester designed to provide a standard API for testing applications interacting with the EVM. The hive-testing framework can now support the testing of GETH, CPP, PY and Parity with Byzantium tests.
Ethereum price 5 days before the Hard Fork
Ethereum price has been consolidating is a very tight range especially during the last 3 weeks. It is literally a calm before the storm type of action on Ethereum price chart. 325 USD is still the key level to watch as a break to the upside of this level will very likely signal a very Bullish move.
This quiet movement in Ethereum price ahead of 2 major Catalysts if anything, signals the strength of the confidence in Ethereum’s upcoming upgrade. The 2 major Catalysts being the Devcon conference early November 2017 and of course the Byzantium fork on October 17th.
